What therapy costs at Hope

Money is the question people are most embarrassed to ask and most often stopped by, so here is the plain answer before anything else. A session is $75, paid when you have it. We do not bill insurance.

How much does therapy cost at Hope Mental Wellness Center?

A session at Hope is $75, paid at the time of your appointment. We accept cash, check, credit and debit cards, including HSA and FSA cards. That is the rate for a full session with a counselor. You pay for the session you had, when you have it.

Do you take insurance?

No. Hope does not accept or bill insurance. Sessions are $75, paid at the time of your appointment, using cash, check, credit and debit cards, including HSA and FSA cards. If insurance reimbursement is what makes care possible for you, that's a legitimate reason to see a different practice, and we would rather tell you now than after an intake.

Why doesn't Hope bill insurance?

Filing a claim puts a third party in the room. Insurers generally require a billable diagnosis. A clinical label attached to your name in a file you don't control, and may have opinions about how many sessions you need. Self-pay removes that. Your records stay yours, and the pace of the work is set by you and your counselor.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Hope accepts cash, check, credit and debit cards, including HSA and FSA cards. Payment is made at the time of your appointment rather than billed later. If you have questions about payment before you book, call (762) 328-4673 and ask. It's an ordinary question and nobody will find it awkward.

Can I use my HSA or FSA card to pay for therapy?

Yes. Hope accepts HSA and FSA cards, and therapy is generally an eligible expense under both. That means pre-tax dollars you have already set aside can cover sessions. If you've written off the cost without checking your HSA or FSA balance, it's worth a look before you decide the number doesn't work.

How do I find therapy in Augusta without insurance?

Self-pay practices are the straightforward route: you pay a set fee per session and skip the benefits process entirely. Hope is one, at $75 per session in west Augusta. Augusta also has nonprofit and community counseling agencies that work with people regardless of ability to pay. Worth calling if a set fee isn't workable.

Is self-pay therapy more private than using insurance?

Generally yes, in one specific way: when no claim is filed, there is no diagnosis submitted to an insurer and no claim record in their system. Your counselor's own confidentiality obligations are the same either way. What changes is how many organizations end up holding a record of your care.

Is therapy worth paying for out of pocket?

That's a real budget question and it deserves a real answer rather than a sales pitch. What we would say: money is the barrier people are most embarrassed to name and most often stopped by. If the fee is the thing standing between you and starting, say that out loud on the phone rather than quietly deciding help isn't for you.

Can I submit my sessions to insurance for out-of-network reimbursement?

Hope does not file insurance claims or handle benefits questions. Some plans reimburse out-of-network mental health care when the client submits paperwork themselves, but whether yours does, and what it would require. Is a question for your insurer. Call (762) 328-4673 if you want to talk through what Hope can and can't provide.

What if I can't afford therapy right now?

Call (762) 328-4673 and say so plainly. Asking costs nothing and it's an ordinary conversation. Augusta also has nonprofit counseling agencies that serve people regardless of ability to pay. And if you are in crisis, call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline; it is free, any hour of any day.
