Money is the question people are most embarrassed to ask and most likely to be stopped by. So here is the plain answer, before anything else: a session at Hope is $75, paid at the time of your appointment. We accept cash, check, credit and debit cards, including HSA and FSA cards.
We don't accept insurance.
Why a practice would choose not to bill insurance
When a practice files a claim, the insurer becomes a third party in the room. To pay, they generally require a billable diagnosis. A clinical label attached to your name in a file you don't control. They may also have opinions about how many sessions you need and when you're finished.
Self-pay removes that third party. What happens in your sessions stays between you and your counselor, and the pace of your work is set by the two of you rather than by a benefits determination.
We won't pretend that's purely a win. Paying out of pocket is a real cost, and for some people insurance reimbursement is the difference between getting care and not. That's a legitimate reason to see someone else, and we'd rather tell you that plainly than have you find out after an intake.
What $75 actually buys
A full session with a counselor, in person on Washington Road or by secure telehealth anywhere in Georgia. You pay for the session you had, when you have it.
If you have an HSA or FSA card, therapy is generally an eligible expense, so pre-tax dollars you've already set aside can cover it. That's worth checking before you decide the number doesn't work.
If the cost is the barrier, say so
It's an ordinary thing to ask about, and asking costs nothing. Call and tell us where you are. We would rather have that conversation than have you quietly decide help isn't for you.
